10:30am – 11:55am Yin Yoga @ the Santa Barbara Yoga Center
Yin Yoga & Meditation: Yin Yoga is a quiet, gentle practice, suitable for all levels of practitioner. The postures are all practiced with your muscles relaxed, staying in each pose from 3 to 5 minutes. Yin Yoga targets the body’s connective tissue, addressing the mobility and health of our joints in the hips, pelvis and spine. It is a helpful preparation for sitting meditation at the end of class, and both provide wonderful balancing and restorative qualities to our very “yang” lifestyles.
Active Beginners (Level 1-2): This is an active beginning level class. Appropriate for students with very little yoga experience, those who have completed the Intro to Yoga course, and for students who want a slower paced class. Basic alignment and correct body positioning in the poses is covered, with emphasis on connecting in feeling to your body, deep breathing, and how to combine breath and movement. Come on in and deepen your breathing, strengthen and stretch your body, and explore your mind and heart’s capacities for openness. Individual adjustments and pose modifications are always offered to help with injuries and health issues.
